For my multigenre multimedia research project, I chose Everything Screenwriting, specifically, the intertwining of words and film and the necessity for adaptation. In this project, I have produced five genres expressing my inquiry question, which led me to do research. My question, how does one go about writing a screenplay? I have chosen this to explore the most interesting aspect to me, which is the very ‘blue prints’ to film. A film cannot be made possible unless it is envisioned by the screen writer first. So to demonstrate my understanding I have written a news article of an award winning screenplay, an original mini screenplay, a diary entry of a typical screen writer’s life, a 'how to' recipe for the steps of the screen writing process, and an interview with a successful screen writer.
“What do you want to be when you grow up?” For me, this has come to be one of the biggest clichés out there. I don’t believe one can truly know exactly what they want to do with their lives at such a young age. For me personally, my answer has changed with time, just as I have changed. Throughout my school career, however, my answer has slowly been molded into shape and I have a clearer direction in life. With all of my English classes I have come to realize how much I love writing. I’m good at it and the process comes easy to me. I have grown up in a family who enjoys going to the movies, all the time. And that’s when it hit me, it was my sophomore year, ‘how cool would it be to write a screenplay?’ I suppose it was a matter of time, since my older brother has taken a career in acting, it was only a matter of time when I would get passed the film torch however my calling would be behind the scenes. I hope that someday I might become successful in writing screenplays. One day my name will be rolling on the credit list. You will only succeed if you believe you will succeed, that’s half the battle.
